Long with Bjorling is Corelli, Domingo and Pavaroti
Jussi Bjorling is considered by experts to be THE GREATEST of Tenors, due to his masterful technique, exceptional range and silvery beauty of voice, and most of the aficionados of Bel Canto would agree. No lover of opera would deny that he is among the greatest.
Jussi died in his country home in Stora Tuna, Sweden. he went to bed around ten in the evening and sometime in the middle of the night he had a heart attack and died in his bed although his wife, Lisa, called for a helicoter to take him off the island and to the hospital. Out of respect to Mrs. Bjorling they kept doing CPR for over an hour realizing though that he had already passed. He died in bed with his wife and dog, Bongo.
oh Bjorling made so many wonderful recordings, Ingemisco from Verdi's Requiem, Che gelida manina from Puccini's La Boheme, Nessun Dorma from Ouccini's Turandot, the song La Mattinata and not forgetting his early recordings in Swedish.
