A hormone is a chemical that your endocrine glands send throughout your body.

Hormones (which can be protein or lipid in nature) affect your growth, puberty, metabolism, weight, figure, shape, physical appearance, reproductive behavior, and emotions.

Hormones are chemicals produced in the body that regulate functions within the organism. Example: Insulin is a hormone. It is produced to regulate sugar levels in the blood after eating.

Pheromones are slightly different. Hormones are created to effect the organism that created them. Pheromones on the other hand, are produced and then released into the environment by an individual to affect organism around them. This is used by many animals to mark territory to scare off competition but also can be used to attract mates.
