Tramadol is a medication given for mild pain, while lorazepam is a benzodiazapine and is normally taken for anxiety disorders. Generally speaking, it's not advised to mix the two together. However, dosages must be considered when a situation calls for prescribing both medications.

Yes, but only when under physicians orders.

Alprazolam (Xanax) is a benzodiazepine class anxiolytic and anti-panic agent used for the treatment of acute anxiety states, management of anxiety disorders, and for panic disorder with or without agoraphobia. Alprazolam acts on the neurotransmitter GABA, the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter regulating neuronal excitability.

Tramadol (Ultram, Tramal, Contramal, Zydol) is a centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic used for moderate to moderate severe pain, particularly peripheral neuropathy. The analgesic effect of tramadol and its major metabolite, O-desmethyltramadol is primarily due to binding to μ-opioid receptors. Often considered a "pseduo-opioid" tramadol derives a significant amount of analgesic action due to moderate inhibition of the reuptake of norepinephrine (noradrenaline) and serotonin, much like the antidepressant venlafaxine.

To answer the questions directly, it can be safe to take the two drugs as prescribed by a doctor. Benzodiazepines are commonly used in addition to opioids due to the potentiating ability benzodiazepines have on opioids. Due to tramadol's inhibition of the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin it posses mild anxiolytic effects which can enhance the action of alprazolam. However tramadol is seldom used to treat anxiety and other benzodiazepines (ie clonazepam, diazepam) are more commonly used in pain management.

Yes, there is no problem in taking acetaminophen (Tylenol) at normal dosage with Xanax. This is a common drug taken every day by many Xanax users. You won't see any amplified side effects.
