They do not sell codeine cough syrup OTC in the USA. You can buy codeine products OTC in Canada, though. 8mgs per dose. The only way to get narcotic cough syrup is to have a doctors perscription. To set the record straight cough syrup that contains codeine may be purchased not over the counter but by asking the Pharmacist for the medication and then siging for it in a log that we keep behind the counter. For the folks that like to make bold statements ie the cough syrup with codeine can not be purchased any where in the USA.. you need to do some background work. I do not know the regulations of every state but in Tennessee this product can be purchased in a pharmacy.
You should be able to purchase this at mom and pop pharmacies around town. Not the big chain stores but smaller local only places. In Tennessee you can buy the codeine containing cough syrup at the chain pharmacies (Walgreen's for example can not keep it in stock. A log book has to be signed so it is not really OTC but no prescription required.
The best OTC syrup is any one which can soothes cough and sore throat within minutes of consuming it. Usually honey and basil are very effective in killing bacteria which cause sore infections. Generally everyone knows how to help a sore throat; but it is also important that you must keep the right medicine at the right time. Keep stock of cough lozenges as far as possible.
Codeine Phosphate Linctus 15mg/5ml (cough medication, Codeine Linctus) or Codeine Phosphate 25mg/5ml (pain medication, syrup)
Since codeine is a narcotic, you can only get it in the US with a prescription, whether it's in a cough syrup, pill form, etc. There are NO narcotics, or compound meds with a narcotic in them that can be bought OTC. You have to have a doctor's prescription to get it.
yes
yeah but it only works if you want to get rid of a cough. if you want to get a cough try eating a jalepino pepper. but on a more serious road most otc. cough meda don't really work so call your doctor and have him call a pharmacy with a codiene base to it thatwill kill the cough.also he might want to see you to make sure you don't have abronchitis or pnuemonia
In America and most countries, none do. In the US, codeine is a controlled substance that can only be administered by prescription. Actually your answer is not correct. Cough syrup containing codeine can be purchased from a pharmacist and siging a log book. I am a Pharmacist and at least in Tennessee this is legal.
They haven't you can still buy it you just have to sign for it. Most chain pharmacies won't sell it to you but if you can find an independent pharmacy they most likely will have some. It's called cheratussin ac.
Cipro is a prescription antibiotic and sulfa is an antibiotic as well. Neither are in Aleve...which is a OTC -over the counter- NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug) used to treat pain, fever and inflammation.
One of the strongest alternatives to the Tussigon that you are referring to would be a OTC product containing Dextromethorphan (aka DXM).
