I just started the Nuva ring and leave it in for 4 weeks and then insert a new one. After talking to my doctor, she told me that the Nuva ring was approved by the FDA to be used continiously. The Nuva Ring is good for 34 days, if I remember correctly. So I have not had a period for the last 2 months. It has been great!
NuvaRing remains effective for up to four weeks after inserting it. If you leave it in for the four weeks, though, be sure to insert the next ring at the end of the four weeks; don't take a ring-free week unless you had it in for just three weeks.
If you inserted NuvaRing during your period, you're likely to bleed again in two to four weeks.
No harm is likely to come to you other than the risk of unintended pregnancy, since a single Nuva Ring would not be effective for three months.
If you leave NuvaRing in for six weeks without changing it, you could get pregnant. Insert the new one now. If you had sex in the last five days, consider using the morning after pill or getting a copper IUD inserted (the latter reduces the risk of pregnancy up to five days after sex, and provides ongoing birth control that's highly reliable and reversible). Use a backup method of birth control until you've used the ring correctly for seven days. Take a pregnancy test if you don't have bleeding when you next take your ring-free week break.
If you leave the last NuvaRing in for four weeks, insert the new one immediately. If you did not insert it immediately, you must use a backup method until you've used the ring correctly for seven days.
You are not protected if you have not completed the 3 weeks, so yes, you could get pregnant.
i take my nuv ring out in the 3 weeks and i dont leave IT OUT FOR A WEEK I ATOMICALLY PUT A NEW ONE IN is this a problem
If you insert NuvaRing eight days late, you are at risk for pregnancy. Use a backup method for at least seven days. Timing of your next episode of withdrawal bleeding will be unpredictable. Take a pregnancy test if you had sex that wasn't protected due to the error in NuvaRing use. Consider changing to a method that doesn't require you to do something every month.
If you removed your NuvaRing a week early, put in a new ring now.
slightly yellow
Remove the NuvaRing, replace it with a new one, get a pregnancy test if you've had intercourse during the previous four weeks, consider emergency contraception if you've had intercourse in the prior 72 hours, and consult your health care provider.
Yes. The Nuva Ring has enough hormones to last up to 35 days, or 5 weeks. Leaving it in for 4 weeks is perfectly healthy and equally as effective for preventing pregnancy. Leaving it in for 4 weeks and skipping your period is fine, but it should not be left in for more than 4 weeks at a time.
