ALL THIS IS MERELY ANNECDOTAL, BASED ON PERSONAL EXPERIENCE USING THE SLEEP AID DURING "ROUGH" PERIODS OVER THE PAST FOUR YEARS. The time you take your nightly dose, and the activities you engage in immediately before and after ingesting the pill, have relevant impacts on how fast, as well as the duration of ambien. From personal experience, Ambien becomes less effective the longer you have been using it for a sleep aid. Most effective is to make ready for bed/sleep at approximately the same time for each dose. This provides some of the psychological "body background" of "it's time to sleep", and will help the initial drowsiness of Ambien get you over the "sleep hump" and then keep you there rather effectively (especially the ER - extended release - or - CR controlled release.) In my experience, I would rate the different common formulations as follows, from best to worst, both at inducing sleep and keeping me asleep for 7-8 hours: 1- Ambien CR 12..5 mg (brand name, best quality, but most expensive, and some insurers won't cover this unless your doctor convinces them that none of the below work for you) 2-Zolpidem ER 12.5 mg (generic version of the above, but does not seem to have reliable ability to induce sleep as quickly, but still generally maintains sleep for 7 to 8 hours, once you fall asleep) -- insurance often does not cover this, either, and the price difference from brand name is very small. May as well go with the real dea, if you can afford it. How much is sleep worth to you? 3- Zolpidem 10 mg similar (generic Version without any controlled release or extended-release quality; this is the least effective of the three formulations of Zolpidem) Key here is to use sparingly, if possible. Ambien and it's formulation work well for the first two weeks. Taking them longer than that can lessen their effectiveness. Taking higher doeses does not seem to help.
does these med cause you not to sleep
er...if they sleep together, yes. haha; is it cos you're 13/14 yourself?
