There is a certain amout of pain and discomfort associated with each and every surgery. I was the lucky patient to have a hemorrhoidectomy and fistulectomy. I received so many pain meds but didn't take one as they simply clog your bowels and that was not what I needed after that surgery! We use our bums everyday so I took milk of magnesia and did my sitz bath hourly. I also had my husband install a hand held shower head. The warm water is soothing! Pain with this surgery is normal as we apply pressure there all day everyday, use pillows, and watch your activity! Good luck and if you need pain meds take them when we chase pain we take longer to recover both mentally and physically!
