I have a 5th metatarsal break now. Mine is 1 mm separated. The doctor told me anything MORE than 1 mm does not make a union well and would probably need a screw inserted. Good luck to all who have this problem!

Which bone articulate with metatarsal bones?

Distal to the metatarsals are the phalanges. The great toe (hallux) has two phalanges where as all of the other toes have three each. The proximal phalanges attach the the metatarsals via the metatarsal phalangeal joints. Proximal to the metatarsals are the tarsals.
