Presence of a milky whiteness in the pupil as the cataract progresses.
Acetylcholine solution can be used for Irrigation which BSS (basic salt solution) can be used for as well, but it is used during cataract surgery, corneal transplant and Iridectomy to cause complete constriction of the pupil, that classifies it as Miotic, a pupil constricting agent.
Shining a penlight into the pupil may reveal opacities or a color change of the lens even before visual symptoms have developed.
The perception by the same eye of two images of a single object, due to double pupil, early cataract, irregular astigmatism, or displacement of the lens.
The dilator muscle which makes the pupil larger and the constrictor muscle which makes the pupil smaller.
Administration of a miotic agent causes constriction of the pupil. Miotic agents work by stimulating the muscles in the iris to contract, resulting in a smaller pupil size. This can be useful in treating conditions such as glaucoma or to help improve vision after cataract surgery.

The eye uses a transparent lens over the pupil with which to focus etc. A cataract is where the lens becomes cloudy and opaque (not see-through). This leads to blurred vision and if left untreated, blindness. From my A-level studies, I know that prolonged exposure to UV radiation increases the chances of developing a cataract- which is why sunglasses often have UVA/UVB ray filters in. Cataracts can be spotted by opticians by modern methods and equipment. The cataract can be easily removed (my grandma has just had hers removed). A small cut is made in the eye (after anaesthetic etc!). The cataract is removed with a rod, while a new synthetic lens is placed into the eye. The operation takes around 30 mins and has extremely high success rates. See the NHS website for more details.

Typically, no alcoholic beverage will cause pupil dilation.
