a few reasons I can think of.....first, because the blood supply is usually better on the left side of the body (beacause of the way your aorta leaves the heart- to the left).

Secondly.....the hypocampus is an area responsible for learning, so I would guess it's due to the fact that most uf us learn one kind of information (left side of your brain for analytical thinking, math, science, right side for literature and so forth). Therefore the fact that it's larger on one side is due to the fact that you used that part of it more.

Lastly.......... I don't know this for a fact but I read somewhere that the amino-acids in the human body are mostly left handed (they polarise light to the left....can't get into details.....it's complicated chemistry)
