Bulimia and anorexia are both potentiall very dangerous and deadly eating disorders. Bulimia is characterized by excessive eating (called bingeing) followed by throwing up or using laxatives (called purging) to get rid of the food from the body. Forcefully throwing up or using laxatives harms the stomach, intestines, and esophagus. To much stomach acid can harm the throat, mouth, and esophagus. This can cause burns, irratation, pain, and potentially infections or cancer in the mouth. Bingeing can stretch out the stomach, and if too much food is eaten and then forcefully purged, the stomach can rupture. That often quickly leads to death.
