I think when you die with open eyes you have been instantly killed. But if you were killed slowly, you would die with your eyes closed.

Do you die with your eyes open or closed?

You can die with your eyes either open or closed. For many people, especially the sick and the elderly, it is not uncommon to die in their sleep, in which case their eyes will be closed. However, some do die with their eyes open, in which case it is considered respectful to close that person's eyes.

Why some people die with eyes closed others eyes open?

Some people die with their eyes closed and open because some people die sudden and some people die slowly. For example, a person got shot. That would be a sudden death because they didn't expect it to happen and they would leave their eyes open. And another example, a person was really old and couldn't live any longer. They would know to shut their eyes because the know that they're going to die any second.

Do most people die with their eyes open or closed?

Yes you can, when you are asleep your eyes close to stop them from drying out and when you die your brain doesn't funktion so it doesn't gtry to protect the eyes. Also, when you die most of the musles stay in the same state as before, as long as there is no tension in the musles, they remain as they were before the brain tried to communicate with them.

Can blind people feel or know the difference between having your eyes open and shut other than the obvious movement?

Unless they have some loss of sensation in their eyelids, yes, they can feel when their eyes are open or closed. They may, however, get used to letting their eyes be closed when they are awake because if you don't have any vision, why open them? And also what you don't use, you lose, including the muscles that control the eyelids, so it may be difficult for some blind people to control whether or not their eyes are open, due to lack of use of the muscles. They may become so used to not paying attention to whether or not their eyelids are open, that they might not always realize whether they are or not in some cases, also.

Do eyes stay open after death?

I've heard they can fall open because of gravity that's why mortitions sew them shut. When a person dies, all of their muscles relax. If the eyes are open at the moment of death, they will usually stay that way. Also, if someone had their eyes closed at the moment of death, they will tend to open a short time later due to the relaxation of the muscles that open and close the eyes. This isn't always the case, but for the majority of people, the eyes will be open. Morticians do not sew the eyes shut. The old fashioned way was to take some cotton and place it under the eyelids. This kept them shut and gave them shape, as the eyes tend to sink back into the sockets after death. The current method of keeping the eyes closed is to use what are called eye caps. They have little grippers on one side, and are smooth on the other. The grippers keep the lids closed.
