See Pica, a disorder people suffer that makes them crave non food items. I have suffered from this since my first pregnancy. Many pregnant women have pica like symptoms that disappear with the birth of the child. Not so for me. I still crave chalk, talcum powder, dry laundry detergent, sawdust, asphalt, Sheetrock.
They say it is a mineral deficiency, but i have been tested over and over and do not have one
It seems to be more like a texture addiction for me because my cravings involve anything that is powdery or breaks down that way..(I also do not feel i have psych problems, as i am a pretty well adjusted, happy person) ( I am also a psychologist, and have examined this extensively)
Also, i need to add that i do not EVER under any circumstance EAT said substances!
I need to add that this is just my experience with PICA, and there are many people who suffer from it who can be diagnosed with mineral def. and/ or psych problems!
