In the US there is a flu vaccination made with live viruses that have been weakened (attenuated) to prevent them from making otherwise healthy people sick. This type of vaccine can be used by those who are healthy and aged 2 - 49. It creates a very good immune response to cause immunity and so it can be administered in an intranasal mist that is inhaled into the nose instead of having to be given in a shot. The vaccines for flu that are made to be injected in a shot are made from "dead" viruses or pieces of dead viruses. So flu vaccinations are produced from both "dead" viruses and live viruses.

How do vaccinations stimulate the immune system?

when having a vaccination, they inject Dead Viruses into your body. Your White blood cells will then detect an unknown substance that is not meant to be in your body. (The viruses are dead so you will not get ill unless you have a very week immune system) Your white blood cells will then engulf the dead virus and kill it. (Shorter Vers.) Vaccinations are dead viruses which helps your white blood cell produce toxins to kill it therefore your white blood cell will be prepared for the next time you get the same virus.

What are some ways viruses can be beneficial?

One way is for vaccinations. They use dead or weakened viruses to inject into people/animals so they can form immunities.

Can vaccinations disrupt the natural process of immune development?

Vaccines are essentially weakened viruses or dead viruses which are introduced into the body to invoke active immune reaction towards the virus. Once the immune system is activated towards the virus, it will produce antibodies that patrol the body for about 2 to 10 years depending on the type of virus. This gives you future immunity towards the virus. Problems however arise when there is over-reaction of the immune system towards the vaccine, an allergy towards the vaccine (virus or its medium), or the virus in the vaccine suddenly is able to overcome the "weakening process" in making the virus. In the latter case, the live virus is given to the victim. The medical establishment believes that the benefits of vaccinations outweigh the risks, despite the chances of getting a deadly infection being very small. Note: There is no evidence of a link between autism and vaccinations.

How can your body produce antibodies against dead viruses?

A virus doesn't have to be alive for the body to produce antibodies against it. Antibodies recognize the physical appearance of a virus. By using dead viruses the immune system is taught to look out for a live virus with the same characteristics of the dead one, but you don't risk being infected by the virus.

Is mumps alive?

No: Mumps is a virus, and by definition viruses are nonliving, neither dead or alive.

What is made up of dead or weakened virus or virus particles?

Vaccines are made up of dead or weakened virus particles to stimulate the immune system to produce an immune response without causing illness.

Do viruses grow on dead cells?

Viruses that enter a cell do not die. A virus cannot reproduce on its own so it needs to find a cell in which to live. After the virus is done reproducing, most host cells die.

Why do viruses infect living organisms?

Because the living organism has to replicate the DNA that the virus infects the host with. It can't do this if it is a dead organism.

Can you Explain the live virus in vaccines?

Vaccines are small amounts of live viruses injected into the body. These viruses teach the body's immune system how to fight off the disease. Correction: Some viruses are live. Some are weakened, most flu vaccines are dead viruses, not live, although the nasal mist is a live, weakened virus. Please make sure your answers are correct.

What type of influenza vaccine should a pregnant woman receive?

Only those that are made from inactive "dead" virus particles and not the LAIV Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccines. That means that you should get injected vaccines for the flu instead of the nasal mists that contain "live" but weakened viruses. See the related question below for the recommendations from gynecologists and obstetricians for flu vaccinations in pregnancy.

Why don't mosquitoes get sick from the viruses they carry?

because they take the virus and compltety transmit it to others they don"t keep any virus on their body so they don"t get.another one is that they have no blood of their own so these viruses may stay in their body but they are still dead &they are not on any host.
