They go through puberty
generally post puberty
About 1-2 years after you start puberty, you start to grow hair under your arms and around your genitals.
A girl gets her period (menstrual cycle) and boys get lots of underarm hair
Puberty is a very variable process and the normal range over which boys begin puberty is from 9 years old right up until the late teens. The average age for puberty to begin is 12 or 13 years old. Once puberty has started it takes, on average, around six years to complete the process. Added to this, boys don't always go through the same stages of puberty in the same order. Now you can see how difficult it might be to predict when any particular stage might occur. Some boys grow pubic hair before they grow any hair in their armpits, others grow underarm hair before they grow pubic hair. If you already have pubic hair then you'll probably find the first hairs appearing in your armpits pretty soon.
Boys will grow body hair, facial hair, have a deepening of voice, and more development of the genitals. Girls will grow body hair, develop curves on the waist, have a period, and develop breasts. Both sexes may have acne.
Facial hair begins during puberty. It is one of the later characteristics to emerge. Some boys get it early during puberty though as everyone is different and matures at different ages and rates. You should have some facial hair above the top lip where a moustache grows by the time puberty ends.
The pubic hair grow during puberty. Hair in under arms is also common. Also body hair become a bit thicker.
All children grow constantly, before reaching puberty (you didn't stay baby-sized until you were around 12, did you?). But yes, growth rate does increase during puberty, and growing facial hair is a sign that you are already there.
