There are so many medication out there to treat anxiety. In my opinion practicing in the Psych field is a shot in the dark. You try one medication and it may work or the patient may not be able to tolerate it. It usually takes about 6 months for bipolar patients to get the right cocktail. Meds are administered depending on the severity of your condition. Some patients just take a tranquilizer, others take an antidepressant and a tranquilizer. You just have to find what works for you.
Tranquilizers: Klonopin, Ativan, Xanax, Valium
Anti Depressants: Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, Wellbutrin
I've only listed a few in each category. There has been much success with the SSRI Anti Depressants the only downside is you don't feel the full therapeutic effect for about 8 weeks. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is also recommended again depending on the severity of your condition. You learn how to breath through the panic attacks/anxiety, triggers, and how to manage stress.
There is several types of medications for anxiety but many of them come with side effects that can lead to greater health problems. I recommend that she see her Doctor and even try counseling first as medicine will not fix the underling reason for this anxiety.
You need to speak with a doctor. There are many types of medications that can help anxiety that also have very mild side effects. No matter which treatment course you choose you must start by talking to your doctor.
Some risks of anti-anxiety medications for children include dependency, mood swings, and developmental problems. These medications can alter brain chemistry which is constantly changing in growing children.
There are many different types of medications for the treatment for anxiety. Some good ones are Xanax (alprazolam) and Atican (lorazepam). These are fast acting and can usually bring relief within a half hour.

Stimulant medications, including amphetamines (i.e. Adderall, Vyvanse), do induce anxiety in some people. Other medications could be tried for treatment of ADHD if this anxiety is unbearable, or another medication could be used to treat this anxiety (i.e. a benzo or a mood stabilizer).
It can, but it might not. ADD medications in the "stimulant" category--e.g. methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, Focalin) and Adderall--while excellent medications for attention deficit disorder, can make anxiety symptoms worse. Strattera, an ADD medication not in the "stimulant" category, usually does not worsen anxiety symptoms. In fact, it might even improve them. On the other hand, there are excellent anti-anxiety medications available. So it would make sense to treat the anxiety at the same time as you're treating the ADD. Then both problems are solved.
Antianxiety medications do not cure anxiety, they only stop you from experiencing the symptoms. To "cure" anxiety, you need to participate in cognitive behavioral therapy and learn to manage your anxiety.
The internet is a wonderful source of information on anxiety. You can find information on how to deal with anxiety, as well as medications that might be prescribed. You can also find information on how to be supportive of a friend or family member who might be experiencing anxiety.
A doctors evaluation can tell if you have chronic anxiety. There are medications available to help relieve some symptoms of anxiety. There are also many natural approaches as well.
Changes in diet, exercise and general lifestyle along with medications such as Antidepressants, Stimulants, and Benzos help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
There are different forms of treatment for anxiety. Depending on the type of medicines you want to use, there are over the counter and prescription medications.
