Weill's disease is an infection generally involving the (human) liver, often fatal. I practiced Medicine in Melbourne, Australia from 1961(qualification) to 2003 (Retired due to Ill Health) In those 42 years, I only saw one case, a man who contracted Weill's disease while hiding in barns, haystacks and open fields in Europe while working for Dutch Intelligence during World War two (1941 to 45) This man lived to the age of 60 in poor health, the Government of the Netherlands gave him a War Pension once he validated his Service history Weill is pronounced the same as Vial Maybe someone else can tell you more about Dr. Weill. I can only add that Weill's disease is said to occur where people live in close association with animals, especially rats.
