Why is it important that lymph vessels are spread throughout body?
lymph vessels are like blood vessels and they carry fluid
similar in composition to blood plasma (only that they carry clear
fluid containing less protein than blood plasma and numerous white
blood cells which help to fight infection, especially lymphocytes),
the body tissues are bathed in lymph from the blood , then the
lymph vessels drain the lymph away just like the vein drains
deoxygenated blood from body back to the heart, in a situation
whereby the drainage of lymph by the lymph vessels is interupted,
there is accumulation of fluid in that part of the body causing
edema( excessive accumulation of fluid in the body) so the lymph
vessels are important for drainage of lymph throughout the body and
due to this they are able to carry antibodies(foreign micro
organisms in the body) to the lymph node to be destroyed. all the
lymph that is collected goes to the thoracic duct and right
lymphatic duct which then empty back into the blood.
