Is it true that you can only have 2 embryos transferred in the US? We were looking to have three with the thought of having twins or triplets intentionally.

No, it is not true. A good reproductive endocrinologist will transfer as many that can be SAFELY transferred.

A good one would never implant more than two, if he feels sure all three could possibly take (with high grade embryos).

Also it is depends on healthyness of body. If the body is not capable to keep those embryos to long term period then it is not posible.

What is ICSI and how does it benefit couples struggling with male infertility?

ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is an advanced fertility treatment used to treat male infertility. During ICSI, a single sperm is directly injected into an egg, bypassing potential barriers to fertilization like low sperm count or poor sperm quality. This technique is particularly beneficial for couples where male infertility is a contributing factor. ICSI enhances the chances of fertilization, making it a powerful solution for couples facing male infertility issues. It is commonly used in conjunction with IVF for better outcomes. What is it called when they take the male out of the male sperm to inject into the woman?

If the man gave the semen sample by masturbating, it's called IUI. If the sperm was removed surgically, that removal procedure is called MESA. Then a sperm is injected through an egg removed in an egg retrieval via a process called ICSI, and the fertilized embryo is put into the woman. That process as a whole is called IVF, but IVF doesn't always include ICSI.

How does IVF success rate vary with age, and what can be done to improve the chances of success?

The success rate of IVF is closely linked to the womanโ€™s age. Women under 35 generally have the highest success rates, with more than 40% success in many IVF cycles. As women age, particularly after 40, the success rate declines due to a decrease in egg quality and quantity. However, IVF can still be successful for older women, especially with the use of egg donors or genetic screening. To improve IVF success, couples can focus on optimizing their health. Maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, and reducing stress can significantly impact fertility. For women over 35, fertility specialists may recommend genetic screening or egg freezing as ways to preserve reproductive options for later use. Other factors that can enhance the chances of IVF success include choosing a reputable fertility clinic with advanced technologies and experienced doctors. Additionally, lifestyle changes like quitting smoking, reducing alcohol intake, and eating a balanced diet are essential for improving overall fertility health. It's also important to understand the role of male fertility in IVF. Male factor infertility can affect the success of IVF, and techniques like ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) can improve fertilization rates in cases of low sperm count or motility issues. In conclusion, while age plays a significant role in IVF success, many factors can be managed to improve the chances of a successful pregnancy. Consulting with an experienced fertility doctor can help tailor the treatment to individual needs and optimize the chances of success. For more information, visit Dr. Poonam Goyal's website.
