The medical term for bluish-black marks on the skin caused by hemorrhages into the skin is "ecchymosis."
Scrotal ecchymosis refers to bruising of the scrotum, which can occur due to trauma, injury, or underlying medical conditions. It usually appears as a discolored patch on the skin caused by broken blood vessels leaking blood into the surrounding tissue. It is essential to seek medical evaluation if scrotal ecchymosis is accompanied by pain, swelling, or other concerning symptoms.

A hematoma is a collection of blood outside the blood vessels below the dermal layer of the skin whereas an ecchymosis is collection of blood within the dermal layer. When visible they both appear as a discolouration of the skin with the ecchymosis appearing flat and the hematoma appearing as a swelling. This fact usually distinguishes the two clinically. The colour varies depending on the location and age.
