Because jumping puts stress on the knee. These activities include: tennis, Badminton, contact sports (such as football, Baseball), squash or Racquetball, jumping, squats, skiing, or jogging. Do not do any heavy lifting (more than 40 lb) or weight lifting.
I fell two weeks ago on the knee I had replaced a year and half ago. The pain had not gone away so I went to see my Orthopedic Dr. who said it was a good idea to come in to have it checked out and have an xray. He said when you replace the knee the kneep cap gets thined and their is a loss of blood flow so you can crack your knee cap easiley and sometimes may need to have surgery. If you do not crack the knee cap it could be a bone bruise that can cause pain and last up to 6 to 8 weeks due to the limited blood flow. He said that if after 6 to 8 weeks you still have pain and stiffness see the Dr. to have it checked again as swelling could have cover up the crack on the xray.
Well following knee replacement surgery implants have been fixed to the knee bones.
Patients should be extremely careful while doing activities and falls should be avoided.
When a fall happens with high impact it can break the bones surrounding implant creating loosening of the implants.
IN most severe cases a revision knee replacement surgery has to be done.
