A normal platelet count is between 150,000–400,000 platelets per cubic millilitre of blood. In mild cases of thrombocytopenia, the count is between 100,000–150,000. In severe cases, the count can be close to zero. If the platelet count falls below 30,000, the risk of uncontrolled bleeding is high and could be life-threatening.
Platelets also carry serotonin and L-tryptophan, two substances involved in sleep/wake cycles, appetite, and mood regulation.
hi i want to know about my mother have liver cirrohsis so now she checked her blood level she has 36000 platelets she has this problem since 3years.we take good care to her but she has also diebeties but now its in normal.she not eat very well eat full boul of millen or water millen with 2slice brown bread in lunch or diner she take only good diet in break fast 1boil egg 2slice brown bread 1ful cup skimmed milk.
Around 125 and below is considered good.
A normal platelet count for a human ranges between 150,000 and 450,000 platelets per microliter. The average platelet count for men is 237,000 per microliter. The average platelet count for women is 266,000 per microliter.
yes. normal wbc counts are below 10000. you have a bacterial infxn
Perhaps a slight risk of bleeding from NSAIDS; however a lower risk of heart attack.
It is on the lower side of the norm. Normal Platelet counts range from 150,000 to 400,000. However, in my own experience my platelets usually range from 114,000 to 124,000 and have so for over 10 years now. No biggie unless you are having other issues or possible surgery in which they will always do a CBC which includes a platelet count before surgery. Otherwise 124,000 is not bad. But keep an eye out on your next platelet count. Good Luck!
it is a condition in the blood where all the blood cell i.e rbc, wbc and platelets are decreased below its normal value. It occurs in cancer, after drug therapy, after irradiation etc
Platelets helps in clotting of blood, sowounds stops healing when the no. of platelets drops below a particular point...
The normal range for platelet count in the blood is typically between 150,000 to 400,000 platelets per microliter. Any count below or above this range may indicate an underlying health condition and should be evaluated by a healthcare provider.
I belive normal range is from 100,000-500,000, that is on the lower end of the spectrum but probably nothing to worry about. Although you should talk to your Dr. about it. There are many things that cause low platelets.
In a normal adult body, the number of platelets is about 150 to 400 x 109 per liter of blood. This is equivalent to 150,000/mm3 to 400,000/mm3. * For 5 liters of blood, the total would be 7.5 x 1011 to 2.0 x 1012 platelets. The average human body produces about 1 x 1011 platelets each day.(* sometimes expressed as "1.5 lakhs" (lacs), based on the Hindu number for 100,000)
In the most simplistic terms, platelets are the cells in your blood stream that have the function of promoting clotting. These platelets must exist in the blood stream in large numbers. If the number of platelets in the blood stream fall below a certain level, clotting time will be noticeably increased, which can cause a number of different health issues. The acceptable range for platelets in the blood stream is anywhere from one hundred and fifty thousand to four hundred and fifty thousand, with the more healthier numbers being the higher numbers. If a person is injured during a time where their platelet count is low, there is an obvious risk, but there are also unseen risks at times, where excessive bleeding can become a serious issue to an individual. Bone marrow is actually responsible for platelet production in our bodies and these platelets last about a week or more before they need to be replaced. A variety of signs can be used to infer whether or not a person has a low platelet count besides medical testing. The most obvious signs, however, will be related to whether an individual has more severe bleeding than normal. For instance, if a person cannot brush their teeth properly without triggering excessive bleeding gums, this is likely a sign of low platelet levels. Uncontrollable bleeding from minor cuts, blood in stool, blood in urine, unexplainable bruising and abnormal menstrual flow are all also signs of low platelet counts. Low platelet counts can be caused by side effects from certain medications. In fact, many people who experience low platelet counts are experiencing this problem due to the side effects from medication they are using to treat another medical problem. The body will not be able to produce platelets quickly enough to overcome platelets being destroyed from another illness and the medication being consumed for that illness. Even aspirin can cause platelet counts to drop, so be very careful in these situations. Also, low platelet counts are often a side effect of cancer and autoimmune disorders as well as the treatment for these illnesses. The spleen is responsible for removing the old platelets in our bodies, but with certain illnesses, the spleen may be removing platelets too soon, causing low platelet counts.
Subnormal means below normal.
