The first element that directs human behavior is desire. The most significant human emotion is fear. Humans are conditioned with beliefs and values from the environment within which they are nurtured. These values and beliefs determine what is accepted as morality or immorality. Human choices can be beneficial or destructive to themselves and to others within the environment or society.

Morality is designed as a system of controls to protect the individual and the society from choices that are destructive or harmful. Fear is used as a tool or weapon to compel or persuade humans to conform to patterns of behaviors or choices that are determined to be appropriate and moral. The leaders of the society determine what is appropriate and moral. Sometimes these leaders manipulate these moral Codes of Conduct to satisfy their egocentric agendas based on their personal beliefs and desires.

Members of the society who become victims of oppressive moral codes develop resistance groups to struggle against the immoral forces of the administrative powers. These resistance groups or civil rights activists then compel the administrators to change their immoral codes to respect the freedom and rights of those who choose to practice alternative ideals or beliefs.
