The lungs play an increadably important role in the circulatiory system. Without lungs we would not be alive.

The role of the lungs sounds quite simple though, when you inhale they take in the oxygen and pass it along to the blood flow thorough the bronchi and alveoli.

The red blood cells then make carbon dioxide as a bi-product which is collected up by the bronchi and breathed back out again.

help u breathe The respiratory system includes the heart and lungs. The lungs take in oxygen which pumps blood through the whole human body and to the heart. This process keeps the heart pumping which keeps you alive.

The lungs primary function is to transport oxygen to the bloodstream. It also transports carbon dioxide from the body back out into the atmosphere.
