Dandruff is usually thin flakes that obviously, flake from your scalp. If you talking about small little "ball-like" substance that come from your scalp, it's probably just excess sebum from your hair follicle pores. However, if you try to get it off your hair, and it doesn't come off, it's a possibilitly that it might be lice eggs. But if think you have lice, you'll be able to see it if you examine closely. If you don't see any, then you probably don't have lice!

Dandruff looks like dry skin. Actually, it IS dry skin, but it comes off of your head. If you have never had dry skin, then Dandruff looks like little white flakes.

Usually if you wash your hair frequently it does not have a smell, but if you wait a long time to wash your hair it is possible that your hair will adopt a grease-like odor.
