The thick clotting is usually very normal, it is actually pieces of the uterus shedding its layer. If it is extremely heavy or you are too worried about it I suggest asking your doctor if everything is okay, but from personal experience i have had the same thing usually towards the end of my period, maybe yeast infection and the fuyan pill maybe the best choice for curing it.
A blood clot is formed when the blood thickens, and when some sticks itself to the side of the veins, over a period of time there is more and more (thick) blood all sticking to the side, and eventually blocks, or forms a blood clot in the veins.

Blood doesn't clot inside of the body because it is all working together. Some blood may clot in the body, which causes blood clots. This is caused by blockages. Blood that doesn't clot has a wide flow.
Too thick. PT stands for Prothrombin Time. The lower the PT value the faster (fewer number of seconds) the blood takes to clot- the blood is "thicker". The higher the PT value the longer the blood takes to clot because the blood is "thinner".
