Sitting in a certain position for a long time could cause cramp.

A lack of potassium can let you cramp up easier. To prevent this, eat more bananas. Seriously! They have lots of potassium in them.

Extremely common, any muscles that have involuntary control, including some organs, are able to get cramps. Cramps are triggered by muscle fatigue, or over shortening of the muscles. Once the muscle has been triggered, and cannot retrieve enough oxygen to match its pyruvate levels it shuts down and contracts until it has been rested.

Charlie horses are often a result of lack of potassium in the diet. Try giving your daughter food rich in the potassium such as bananas and see if the condition gets any better.
