∙ 14y agoif i was in your position (which i practically am because i have depression and im a self harmer) i would do something that would make your parents rush you to the emergency room.. for example you could:
overdose on any medication
slit your wrist
jump off of a building
knock yourself out (bang your head repeatedly as hard as youcan against a brick wall)
i am being very honest with you here.. you must do something that includes extreme suicidal behaviour tht causes your parents to rush you to hospital, then a nurse will hopefully notice all of your self harm mark (cuts, burns, bruises etc) and consult a mental health professional..
please take my points into consideration.. i hope i helped.. please dont actually TRY to kill yourself just make a very unsuccesful attempt :S plz dont commit suicide!! i wont be able to live of you do cuz ill blame myself for writing this :S ahh!! x hope i helped! xxxxxx

∙ 9y agoHow bad is the depression? If its bad enough go to any emergency room, they will give you an evaluation. Based on the evaluation they will either admit you to the psychiatric ward (don't worry, I've been there 4 times and they have all been very nice) or they will refer you to one or more psychiatric or psychological professionals or clinics that may be able to help you.
If you don't feel its bad enough to go to the emergency room, its harder to advise you. You may have to "ride it through" for a while until other options appear.

Both suicide and self-harming are ways that people deal with anxiety and depression. They are not healthy ways of dealing. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Speaking as someone who has been at the point of trying it, I can assure you that you will look back and wonder why you were so upset, if only you hang on and don't kill yourself. The best way to deal with this sort of severe depression and hopelessness is to get professional help. Therapy can work wonders with depression and anxiety. You might also need antidepressant medication - it is not habit-forming and most of the newer medicines have fewer side effects. Self-harming seems to be a way to control anxiety. It makes you feel as if you are dealing with the problem. The truth is, you are just switching one anxiety for another. You quickly become addicted to harming yourself, and if you get into a situation where you cannot do it, you get hysterical. Self-harming does not work. Self-harming is related to eating disorders like anorexia and bulemia. It is an unhealthy response. Therapy will help you to change those unhealthy responses and learn healthy ways to deal with stress and anxiety.
