High blood pressure usually causes no symptoms.

  • the symptoms are usually mild and nonspecific
  • For that reason, high blood pressure is often called "the silent killer."
  • People who have high blood pressure typically don't know it until their blood pressure is measured in a routine check up or in other circumstances.

Sometimes high blood pressure patients have the following symptoms:

* Headache

* Dizziness

* Nausea

* Blurred vision

The symptoms are so vague and non-specific, that's one of the problems with high BP. In the past it was considered to be a normal part of aging, and doctors considered that elevated BP was natural. Now researchers recognize that elevated BP causes kidney damage, elevated risk for stroke and heart attack leading to heart damage.

Some of the symptoms of high blood pressure include headaches and dizziness. However these are quite common and might not make someone automatically think they have high blood pressure so it is worth getting checked by the doctor if this sort of thing happens a lot in case it is serious.

Technically, a sign is a feature of a disease or condition that can be measured objectively by a physician. Such features include laboratory values, physical exam results, etc. Signs are differentiated from symptoms, which are subjective phenomena experienced by the patient. Symptoms are things like headache, nausea, pain, etc.

In general, there are no telltale symptoms of high blood pressure (called hypertension in medical lingo). There are several suggestive signs, however. These include extra protein in the walls of blood vessels (called hyaline arteriolosclerosis), protein in the urine (called proteinuria), increased heart size (eg, left ventricular hypertrophy), pulmonary edema (eg, lungs dull to percussion), and changes in the eye (hypertensive retinopathy with bulging vessels and something called arteriovenous nicking). These are just a few of the many signs of high blood pressure.

The unfortunate part is that high blood pressure is a very serious disease and needs medical treatment. However, because the condition really has no distinct symptoms, it often goes unnoticed until a physician picks up on some of the signs mentioned above.

There are a lot of things you could do to prevent form having High Blood Pressure.

Here is what you could do:

Maintain a healthy weight

Stop eating lots of frozen foods

Even if high blood pressure does cause symptoms, the symptoms are usually mild and nonspecific (vague, or suggesting many different disorders). Thus, high blood pressure often is labeled "the silent killer."

People who have high blood pressure typically don't know it until their blood pressure is measured. Sometimes people with high blood pressure have headaches, dizziness, blurred vision or nausea though.

People often do not seek medical care until they have symptoms arising from the organ damage caused by chronic (ongoing, long-term) high blood pressure.

Symptoms of high blood pressure can include nose bleeding, multiple headaches, and dizziness or fatigue.

High blood pressure itself does not usually have any symptoms. The symptoms you describe could be caused by other complications possibly related to high blood pressure and you should consult a doctor for further information.

The physical signs of high-blood pressure are so mild, that many people often go years without noticing there is anything wrong. However, high-blood pressure, or hypertension, can do some serious damage to the human body. The damage may start small, but over some time it can build to some extremely serious problems such as strokes, Heart disease and kidney failure. Following are some common signs of high-blood pressure that people should take seriously.

One symptom of high-blood pressure is dizziness. Whenever there is some form of change to the chemistry of the brain, people will experience dizziness. These chemistry changes are most often due to blood sugar levels or high-blood pressure. When people experience this symptom, they should take note immediately and see a doctor.

Another symptom of high-blood pressure is frequent headaches. Headaches occur when there are changes in the brain due to various reasons. Not all persons with high blood pressure experience headaches; however, the ones who do experience them frequently, and no amount of medication will relieve them.

People, who have hypertension, will have an extremely low tolerance for any form of physical activity. Doctors can test people's tolerance for physical activity by attaching heart monitors to them and monitoring them during exercises. If people still seem physically fit, but they can no longer withstand the same amount of physical activity as they once could, they may have high-blood pressure.

Nausea is another common symptom of hypertension. Sufferers describe it as a constant discomfort in their stomachs that will not go away. Lastly, fatigue is a common sign of hypertension, as well. When people seem tired all the time, even after a proper rest, they are experiencing fatigue. Fatigue is a common symptom of many serious medical problems including high-blood pressure.

In conclusion, the symptoms of high-blood pressure can be so mild, that people often do not notice them for many years. Often, the only way for people to determine if they have high-blood pressure is to have a clinic check them for it. Since the symptoms are extremely mild, it is best for people to check their blood pressure on a regular basis.
