Crisis intervention is a major factor in the management of human stress, and has four major principles. The first principle of crisis intervention is to mobilize a crisis intervention team which can act based on the specific details of the situation. The second principle is to differentiate the symptoms of acute stress from those that are not symptoms of stress. The third is that the intervention needs to be tailored to the needs of the person under acute stress. Finally, the fourth principle of stress crisis intervention is that the intervention's timing should be based on the readiness of the stressed person, rather than the passing of real time.

Regarding stress management techniques, interventions are anything that prevent a stressor from producing negative consequences. These negative consequences can be both physiological and psychological. A good example of a stress intervention would be Perception Interventions. For example, you fail a test and are bummed out which causes your mental state to be lower; using a perception intervention will change the way you look at the situation. Instead, you could say "it is just one test, and I am going to do very well on the next test by using different study patterns." You take the negative thought and turn it into a challenge. That is one example of a perception intervention although there are other stress interventions available.
Promoting a sense of safety can be accomplished by providing training on coping strategies and tools for problem-solving, creating a structured environment that fosters predictability and control, and ensuring access to supportive resources and social support networks. By empowering individuals with the skills and resources to effectively manage stressors, their sense of safety and ability to cope with challenges can be enhanced.

However, it can be positive in the short-term by helping us focus, increase alertness, and mobilize energy to face challenges.
