reduced the risk for hip fracture with increasing quantities consumed, and

was generally associated with reduced bone loss over time, compared to abstention from alcohol.

On the other hand, the abuse of alcohol can increase the risk of developing osteoporosis. Moderation (one or two drinks of beer, wine, or liquor) per day is the key.

There have been some debate about this issue. For a long time calcium was seen as needed for good bone health. But later studies shows that calcium isn't the main source of good bone health. Vitamin D has been shown to decrease the risk of osteoporosis while estrogen has shown to increase the risk.

Eat lots of calcium and exercise while you are young. If you are already up in age then exercises mildly and try to maintain your muscular strength. one reason why more women have it than men is because of lack of exercise. Our bones are already smaller we must protect them. If you are lactose intolerant then try alternate ways of getting calcium like dark green vegetables, like spinage.
