Usually it's heavier than your regular period flow and tends to last up to 2 1/2 weeks. As for your regular periods, you might end up skipping one or two after the surgery or you might go right back on your usual schedule, every one is different.

Your next period should be on schedule and start at the time it normally would. However, the first period after a D & C may be very light. The D & C does not effect the hormones in your body that cause your period to start. That is why it will start at the time it normally does. The D & C does effect how heavy your period will be afterwards. Basically, the doctor has removed the layer that would have been shed during your period, so it takes your body a while to build this layer back up. So periods are normally lighter following a D & C.
