It definitely seemed that our dog knew I was pregnant before we even knew it: she'd always been happy to go for walks with either me or my husband, but as soon as I got pregnant (and I mean DAYS after conception), she started resisting going on walks with my husband. She wanted to stay nearby me, and didn't want to leave the house unless I was leaving the house. This continued throughout my pregnancy--at certain points late in the pregnancy she had to be pulled out the house by someone other than me in order to be walked--and ended after the baby was born.
To complicate the "science" behind this, our dog has no sense of smell! She can't smell cats, food, anything. So it definitely isn't that I "smelled" pregnant. The only thing I can fathom is that it's some kind of sixth sense, or hormonal thing.
She leapt up onto our bed in the middle of the night last night and basically spooned me--which she never does--so I'm starting to suspect I'm pregnant again (though I don't know if I am or not yet).
