β 12y agoIt's not in addition to, it's instead of. Reason, in addition to cost, is that the majority of polyps are found in the region covered by a sigmoidoscopy. If you have a history of colon cancer in your family, and are over age 40, I'd strongly argue for the colonoscopy.

A doctor's degree takes several years to complete, even for the most mundane of subjects. Anybody who can finish one is not likely to forget it, and in addition, doctors are highly sought-after. In short, no, they would not need to redo their degree.

It depends on the doctor. If it is a therapist then yes...who wants to see a doctor with the words "the rapist" NOT ME! If it is a normal doctor then I think they are okay...

The colonoscopy is to determine if there is any source of bleeding in the rectum or intestine. They would be looking for polyps or internal hemorrhoids. I'm not exactly sure what the implications are of having any of those without the physician knowing about it. It makes sense though. Dialysis is filtering the blood and removing the toxins that are building up, a job that the kidneys would normally do. I don't know if that helped any. Ask the doctor or a nurse to explain it better next time you go. Good Luck.
