Does the liver mechanically break down food or does it chemically do it? It's not a muscle so it doesn't break down food mechanically, but it does secrete chemicals that help to break food down, like bile, which is stored in the gall bladder and released to help break down fats and make them more soluble so that they can be absorbed by the body.
I think both but I'm not completely sure
small intestine
No. Anything involving a chemical is not mechanical. It is chemical. It this case a liver "chemical" like enzymes would be involved in the process of digestion. The mechanical process is what you would see when you chew your food, for example. You are not actually changing the food but making the larger parts smaller.
Mechanical and chemical digestion are not the same.
