Mersyndol is a strong over the counter analgesic. It contains paracetamol, codeine and doxylamine. The first two ingredients are analgesics and the doxylamine is a drowsy antihistamine. It is marketed as a muscle relaxant although is simply a drowsy analgesic. It is only indicated for short term pain relief as it can be addictive in nature and the user can form tolerance. Codeine is also notorius for causing rebound pain (i.e pain that comes back worse when the medication wears off), forming a habitual nature of use.
