∙ 18y agoIf you have your period, using metronidazole gel may not be particularly effective. Contact your health care provider for advice about alternative treatment. If you don't have your period, the metronidazole isn't going to have enough volume/moisture to make tampon use comfortable or advisable. If you're taking oral metronidazole, there's no reason you can't use a tampon.

∙ 9y agoTampons should not be used if you have a vaginal infection, including during treatment.
Tampons are a major cause of vaginal infections so using tampons when you already have a vaginal infection may make the infection worse. If you have a vaginal infection it is also likely that your vagina is more favourable to the bacteria responsible for TSS so using tampons at this time may increase TSS risk.

It is not recommended to take flagyl during pregnancy.
no no
Yes it is possible to get an infection or even STD during menstruation.
The answer to this is no. I had a bladder infection while I was on holiday last year, even though I was on my period, the infection still remains and will not go away unless you take antibiotics which will be prescribed by your GP.
Yes
Metronidazole is the chemical name for Flagyl. Drinking alcohol while on oral Flagyl can cause nausea, rapid heartbeat and vomiting.
Flagyl or Metronidazole is not a Penicillin and does not work the same way. So unless you also have an allergy to Flagyl you do not have to worry. This drug is best taken after food or with a fatty meal.
Yes, a vaginal infection can stop your period. This is because the PH balance can get messed up and stop the entire menstrual cycle.
Incubation period refers to the time from exposure to a pathogen until the onset of symptoms, while latency period refers to the time from initial infection to the appearance of disease. Incubation periods are specific to each disease and can vary in duration, whereas latency periods are more consistent and can be shorter or longer depending on the infection.
Yes, Flagyl (metronidazole) can sometimes cause changes in stool color. Common side effects include darkening of the urine and a greenish-black discoloration of the tongue or stools. If you notice any unusual changes in stool color while taking Flagyl, it is best to consult your healthcare provider.
I wouldn't mix them. I read that Flagyl does react your serotonin levels..... You get serotonin syndrome, then yes you could die.. Best not to mess with drugs that have SSRI effect or effects serotonin while taking MDMA.
There is no drug interaction problem between the flu vaccine and Flagyl. But whether you get the vaccination while still taking the antibiotic may depend on why you are taking antibiotics. If you have a current infection, it is usually better to wait until that is cleared up before taking vaccines. But, each situation can be different, and this is a question that the doctor who prescribed the antibiotics should be asked to know what is right in your case.Unless there is a specific reason your doctor wants you to wait, usually the only reason not to get a flu shot while taking antibiotics would be if you have an active infection with a high fever over 101 F. Get your flu shot unless you have a high fever, or the doctor recommends delaying the immunization due to your specific condition.
