It depends on the age of the kid, if it's a little kid, you could get them a small new toy for every time he gets the amount of exercise you ask for. Or for a teenager, I think money would do the trick! [Not saying to bribe them, just say that if you run ___ blank miles a week, you get $5, or some small amount like that!] Sorry if this information doesn't help much!
Make exercise and healthy eating a family activity! Cook healthy meals with your kids, and participate in daily physical activity with them.
Children should never be put on an official diet. It is perfectly alright to encourage healthy eating and exercise, but kids shouldn't be told they are "on a diet". Substitute unhealthy snacks and sugary drinks for fruits, vegetables and fruit juices. Get kids outside and being active instead of sitting in front of a TV or computer after school.
