There is no preferred age. Tonsils are removed only if a person gets tonsillitis, and then only if it is a serious case. Most tonsillitis is caused by a virus which can be treated with antibiotics. If someone gets repeated infections then surgery may be recommended by your doctor.

Due to the fact it's very contagious, there is no limit to the amount of times you get it, but, eventually you'll need something called a tonsillectomy, where you get the tonsils (the things that get tonsillitis) removed, then you will never have to worry about it again, happy to help! and how often, every time you go near someone developping it or who HAS it.
