Why do braces hurt when you stick your bottom jaw out?

if they are attached to your bottom jaw, then its because they are moving your whole jaw back so it cant go as far as it could before, or because the back of the braces is anchored to your teeth.

When to get braces?

There are many ways to tell if you need braces. First of all there are different types of "bites" you could have The most common is the over, when your front teeth protrude too far. Second is an underbite, which is when your bottom teeth cover your top teeth. Third is called an open bite which occurs when you have space between you bottom and top teeth when you smile. The most common reason for one to need braces is if they have excess spacing between their teeth. Another reason is if your teeth are "misaligned". Your teeth are "misaligned" when the space between your top teeth is not perfectly aligned with the space of your bottom teeth. One of the last reasons is when your teeth are crowed, which simply means you don't have enough room in your mouth for your teeth! This is fixed one of two ways, braces or getting your teeth pulled most likely followed by braces.

Can you get braces having wisdom teeth?

AnswerIn most cases, there should be no problem in having your wisdom teeth extracted while you are still wearing braces. This is usually done when there is an infection on the wisdom tooth, or when the extraction is indicated to help with the orthodontic treatment.AnswerAfter having had braces, for four years, the orthodontist told me which teeth had to be extracted PRIOR to the braces being put on. The extraction sites had to then heal, before the braces could be applied. Working around braces is so difficult, that normal dental cleanings and flossing can NOT be done.

Do orthodontic braces weaken dental roots?

Regular braces have been known to cause what is called "root resorption". This essentially means that the roots of your teeth are eaten away at. While this is not always the case with regular braces, it does occur. That's what makes Invisalign a better choice. The force applied to your teeth to straighten them, is far smaller than that of regular braces, making the likelihood of root resorption next to nothing.

Do you have to get braces if you have a over bite?

Yes. Even if your teeth are crooked, you can still get them if you have an overbite. You will just have to wear rubberbands to pull your teeth back. Let me tell you, they aren't the greatest. Ick.AnswerYes. Even if your teeth are crooked, you can still get them if you have an overbite. You will just have to wear rubberbands to pull your teeth back. Let me tell you, they aren't the greatest. Ick. As for the answer above, I love my braces! They look cool once your teeth are straight. You just have to get through the first very painful week. And getting them tightened isn't fun.

How long does it take to get braces put on your top teeth?

It depends on how far your teeth have been pushed out.. If they are only minorly out of place, maybe a couple of weeks, but in some cases they can take a couple of months. The best way to find this out is ask your dentist.
