Scoliosis is usually caused by a birth defect, where the tissue is abnormal near the spine. The scoliosis then usually shows up during adolesence. Your body cannot fight it. Ususally, the turn grows as the person gets taller, but doesn't always, especially if it starts mild. But basicly, scoliosis does not need treatment if it stays mild. It should be treated with a back brace if it gets worse, and is usually only operated on for cosmetic reasons rather then pain.
Scoliosis has three different treatment options 1. Do nothing. This is mainly used for curves under 20 or 15 degrees. You will stay under monitoring. 2. Go into a brace. This is used for curves over 20 or 15 degrees 3. Surgery. This is usually last resort. I have had scoliosis since I was 8 years old. I'm about to go into a brace. I know that both 2 and 3 seem like the end of the world but it'll be fine :)
With my Scoliosis, I had a hunchback for a while, but having surgery fixed it a bit, but not completely. My back isn't completely straight and kind of have an indent. When doctors are moving things around in your back during surgery, things in the front sort of move, well that's what I've been told.. because one of my front ribs is kind of popping out more then it should... doesn't look so great.. I don't think i will ever wear a bikini in public ever. But not to scare you or anything.. it just depends on how back your Scoliosis is and what there doing during any surgerys you might have. I just havent been so lucky with Scoliosis not affecting my body.
Scoliosis is a condition where the spine is curved from side to side. In an x ray it looks like a S or C. It could also be a side affect of spina bifida, cerebral palsey, spinal muscular atrophy or phyisical trauma. It happen more to females. It can be cured by bracing of the spine and surgury. It can be helped by chiropractic stuff. Scoliosis occurs mainly in the thoracic and thoraco-lumbar regions. Scoliosis also effects the muscular-skeletal body system.

Scoliosis affects the whole body not just the spine, so depending on the size of your curve, you could definitely experience headaches
Yes. For one, scoliosis is when your spine is set irregularly, and you would need an upper body brace to straiten out your spine. Mild scoliosis is even worse. It's when your spine is set in an even more crooked positioning, and you would need a upper body brace and wear it for a few weeks. If you have it, you should see a doctor.
That is called a scoliosis. You can remember the 'S' shaped spine of Scoliosis.
With scoliosis, you're usually only limited if it causes back pain. If you suffer from back pain because of scoliosis, you might not be able to sit, stand, or bend over for long periods of time. Other physical activity may also be difficult. Unless the scoliosis is severe, it shouldn't affect the things you do that much, and in very mild cases, it shouldn't affect the things you do at all.
it really depends on what kind of scoliosis it is, and how bad it is. Generally, the doctors will probably do their best to make it in the shape of your body, with different shapes of padding inside of the brace instead of outside of the brace.
scoliosis can not be prevented
if your body is still growing then it will probably progress. once your body stops growing & you have a minute curve, it will not progress. but, if you have a severe curve then it will progress. It does tend to progress for as long as you are growing but the vast majority of teen with mild scoliosis will never have a problem with it.
Scoliosis is a descriptive term for a spinal condition. Scoliosis means curvature
firstly scoliosis is a 'condition' secondly, i guess it kind of is have you ever seen your body in that condition? i have, when your hips arent in line with the rest of your body and you have 1cm of space between your bottom rib and your hip bone, that's a bit freaky. it can cause alot of insecurity.
of course it makes you a little bit shorter if you have something and you bend it, it gets shorter its the same with scoliosis the spine is bent so the body is shorter people who have the correction surgery end up gaining a few inched at the end of it when their spine is straight
