Well, when you bend your arm, your bicep contracts, and your tricep relaxes, so, if you straighten your arm your bicep must relax, and your tricep contracts. :)

The muscle that causes a joint to straighten when it contracts are the extensor muscles. These include the triceps that work with the biceps to extend the arm.

Why the biceps alone cannot make the arm straighten?

The biceps flexes the arm it does not extend it (straightens). The triceps brachii extends the arm. They do work together. If one is damaged and doesn't work as it should, the movement will be "jerky" and not smooth.

How does a tricep work?

The triceps work together with the biceps. They form an antagonistic pair, which means that when one contracts the other relaxes, in order to move your bones. When the biceps are contracting, the triceps are relaxed, and stretches back to its original position. The opposite happens when the triceps contract.

My Triceps are Bigger than my Biceps?

Your triceps are ment to be bigger....after all they are two thrids of the upper arm....people seem to focus on increasing the size of their biceps, this doesn't make there arms look much bigger and also can cause great damage. If I were you I would work out your triceps just as much as biceps, if not more ;)

What work opposite to your biceps muscle?

How do skeletal muscles work as a pair to bend and straighten the arm at the elbow?

Skeletal muscles work in pairs, with one muscle contracting (agonist) to bend the arm at the elbow and the other muscle relaxing (antagonist). When bending the arm, the biceps brachii contracts and the triceps brachii relaxes. When straightening the arm, the triceps brachii contracts and the biceps brachii relaxes. This coordinated action allows for smooth and controlled movement at the elbow joint.
