at puberty, quite dramatic changes occur in the body. the release of hormones necessary for development can be over stimualted and may result in an increase in hair growth. this can also appen in the mid-twenties. At menopause this happens because of the drop in female hormone and can cause hair growth on the upper lip, chin and neck. These hairs are usually terminal.
