Although now there is a BLOOD TEST! Fibromyalgia patients have a higher level of anti-polymer antibodies in their blood. For more information go to autoimmune technologies the link is below. If you feel you have symptoms that may be pointing to Fibromyalgia write them down and take them to your Dr. Explain to your Dr. what you are feeling in as much detail as you can, how it is affecting your life and any other information you feel is relevant (and even if it isn't all information is good). Your Dr. will probably run some tests to rule out any other diseases or conditions (Fibro mimics many other diseases/conditions). Should they all come back negative he will test for Fibromyalgia. There is not a clinical blood test, xray or other laboratory test that is used for diagnosis. Criteria has been established (most widely used criteria is the 2010 College Of Rheumatology Criteria). If you are to test positive for Fibromyalgia, you should ask for a referral to a Rheumatologist or Pain Specialist, and work on a plan from there.
Key is to be honest and open with your Dr.

Fibromyalgia can cause pain and tire someone out mentally. Arthritis only causes pain due to inflammation. The problem is physicians don't really know what causes fibromyalgia, unlike arthiritis which is famously known. Fibromyalagia is harder to bear, so I think fibromyalgia is worse than arthiritis.
