Asperger's Syndrome isn't something you "get", it's something you're born with, like being left-handed. It is often referred to a milder form of autism, though that definition is under some debate. AS is a difference in the way the brain processes information, which makes it hard for the individual to connect with most people socially. Many aspies are very intelligent, even gifted, but often have a limited range of expertise. Many successful engineers, computer programmers, journalists, artists and scientists have Asperger's Syndrome.
If you suspect you may have AS, you can see a therapist for an official diagnosis or look at the list of symptoms.
If you are a loved one with someone with AS, I also suggest you go to a local support group or online support group.

When i was assessed i had an interview with a psychiatrist which lasted about an hour and a half, plus filled out several multiple choice questionnaires, and had an intelligence test (WAIS).
There is no definitive test, like a blood test, but there is a list of criteria that characterize AS. You can take some tests online to determine this, or you can see a therapist for an official diagnosis. Many adults decide for several reasons not get an official diagnosis, that knowing on their own is enough. Click on the links below for more information.

any professional with a proper degree can diagnose you . usually you shouldn't go to a doctor to see if you have aspergers before taking an online test . you can go to ardos.com and that will tell you a rough idea . if your score is good enough you can go to a doctor and it is likely you will be diagnosed
