A couple of days of diarrhea and cramping can be due to slight food poisoning, a virus or the body getting rid of something it doesn't like. The body cleanses itself out this way. Eat light meals and drink 8 - 8 ounce glasses of water to flush out toxins in your body. If this continues for 4 - 5 days then please see your doctor.
The cramps are quite common before, during or after the period. Diarrhea is not common. It is possible to have diarrhea concomitantly with the period, but the diarrhea oftentimes is unrelated to the period.
Cramps followed by diarrhea can be a sign of an eptopic pregnancy so you should visit your doctor to let them check it out.
