Occasionally it would be good to (after it's fully healed). You can also clean it while it's in. Move it back and forth through the hole and make sure all parts are clean with a safe solution (salt water works well too).

I have Spiderbites (2 lip piercings on one side of the mouth and none on the other), I've had one for about a year and a half and the other for about 5 months.

For the inside, alcohol free mouthwash to make sure you get no food on the inside of the piercing.

On the outside, either get Savlon Wound Wash on a cotton bud and clean around the piercing gently, do this around 2/3 times a day. or you can make a salt water solution, of half a teaspoon of salt water to a cup of hot water. wait till it cools down then dip a cotton bud into it and clean gently around the outside :)

No, if you remove the jewellery then you will allow the piercing to close and this will prevent the infection from draining. Now this is based on the asumption the piercing was done by a professional body piercer with proper materials and techniques. If you did the piercing with just something you had laying around the house than your problem could be worse. You could infect be reacting to the material and it my not be an infection at all but and allergic reaction. So if this is a pro piercing then clean the piercing leaving the jewellery in place then the infection should clear in a about 24 to 48 hours if you are cleaning the piercing well enough.

Well you shouldn't remove body jewellery from any piercing that may be infected. To do so would cause the piercing to close, trapping infected matter inside the piercing and not allowing it todrain thus making a simple infection an abscess. Clean the piercing using lathered and diluted liquid antibacterial soap then flush the piercing with plenty of clear running water. If need be use a warm compress applied for 15 minutes to the piercing before cleaning it. Do not use antibacterial or antibiotic salves or ointments on any piercing, these are not meant to be applied to puncture wounds and will only make matters worse.

Make sure you are using SSS (sea salt soak) to rinse as well as using a q-tip or paper towel dipped in the solution 2-3x a day. You can also check with your piercer to see what they recommend as well.

Listerene should do a good job of killing any bacteria at the site and make it sterile, both inside and out.

Nope. That makes them raw and delays healing. Use warm water and sea salt to clean the outside. For the inside, rinse with an alcohol-free mouthwash.
