Conjunctivitis can be highly contagious and any horse showing signs of it should be kept away from other horses. An equine Veterinarian will preform a thorough Ophthalmological exam and may flush the eye and prescribe antibiotic ointments or drops that are usually administered 2 to 3 times a day for a set period of time.
