I am talking about the horror type and has anyone done it and survived?
It is accepted that the black plague was caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis. The three main types of black plague were bubonic, characterized by dramatically swollen lymph nodes called 'buboes' in the neck and near the main limb junctions (underarms, inner thighs), pneumonic, characterized by intense respiratory infection accompanied by fluid in the lungs and bloody sputum, and septicaemic, characterized by an infection of the blood. Bubonic plague proved the most prevalent during outbreaks because the victim lived anywhere from 5 to 12 days after being infected, permitting a wider range of travel and interaction before death. Pneumonic plague often only took 2-6 days to prove fatal to those infected with it and was therefore considerably less common. Septicaemic plague was usually suffered by caregivers - loved ones, clergy, or anyone who was in consistent contact with those afflicted with one of the two other forms, because they were most likely to be bitten by an infected flea (lots of fleas in the dark ages!). This strain had the shortest progression cycle, killing most within 24 to 72 hours of infection.
A handful survived, but often without their fingers, sights, and even genitals.
No. Well not that I know of
