My mom has it. It makes her leave the oven on; one day she's going to burn the house down. She has to use the oven timer, or else! And she never knows if she's taken her medicine or not; she has to have a pill box with the days of the week and a watch on that tells her what day today is to function. The nice thing is that coffee seems to be a temporary cure. She drinks it to calm down.
I have heard that people with ADHD are more likely to kill themselves; it has something to do with lack of impulse control. They also have low self esteem because people blame them for the silly things they can't help doing; like locking their keys in the car. You may need OnStar. And if your friends tease you, make them stop or get new ones.
You also need an iron with an automatic shut off. And you need post-it notes! Write reminders to yourself so you can remember to buy that milk on the way home.
People with ADHD are a lot of fun, never boring, very creative, and that energy is very useful when you need work done. My mom is awesome; but sometimes she gets on my nerves interrupting me to show me something neat she found on the web, and I had to teach her to leave me alone when my bedroom door is closed so I wouldn't yell at her and I could finish my homework.
One bad thing is that she would forget when her boyfriends were mean to her. I hated that. It seemed like she should keep a diary or something, so she would know when to dump the guys. It was handy for me, because she would forget I was grounded! So, if someone says "Do you remember?" and you really can't; just get them to tell you about it. With enough details, it usually comes back.
Uh, keep a list of books you've read so you don't buy them again when they come out with a new cover. If you read as much as she does; and she can hyper-focus on reading, that will save you a lot of money.
My mom is 42, she's alive and well, and I think you will be fine too. It just takes some extra work to cope with the absent mindedness.
ADHD is not a fatal disease. It is a learning disability. Of course, it is possible that a person could die from an accident caused by not paying attention, but there are no known statistics on that. Statistics would be hard to gather on that, because after a person has already died, you can't ask them if their accident was due to not paying attention, caused by ADHD.
It does not, it makes anyone hyper. Adhd is a whole different disorder
everyone has it
no
Anyone who wants relief from the symptoms.
ADHD likely has not directly killed anyone. Indirectly it can cause carelessness, prompting someone to mistakenly kill oneself or others. Adverse reactions to ADHD treatment may also result.
I am a special education teacher that has worked with students who have ADHD and/or Asperger's Syndrome.
If you are on medication for your ADHD , you could get very sick, and of cousre, get in trouble like anyone else who drinks under age.

Absolutely. Anyone can be diagnosed with ADHD at any age. The essential thing, though, is that the symptoms had been there since you were seven years old or younger. Many people live with ADHD for years, even into adulthood, only to figure out on their own that the problems they were experiencing were due to something that was actually treatable.

ADHD is genetic. If you think they learned it somewhere, then that is a behavior disorder and not ADHD.
